Rental Housing Compliance

Course Description

Rental Housing Compliance will focus on the ongoing compliance requirements for HOME rental properties. It will highlight topics such as inspections, rents, income documentation, and sales of units to tenants during the affordability period. It will also highlight recommendations for periodic property owner reporting to the PJ and discuss red flag issues. Finally, the course will describe potential PJ actions to forestall the loss of affordable units in the event a HOME project becomes troubled and foreclosure is imminent. This class is different than HOME Certified Specialist – Rental Housing Compliance and does not include an exam.

Who Should Attend

This is an intermediate course and participants need to have passed the HOME Certified Specialist–Regulations exam, taken Building HOME or have at least one year of experience in working with the HOME rental programs to attend this session. The course is open to PJ and CHDO or other HOME-eligible nonprofit staff.
